Loren Hubbard completes National Leadership Summit

Loren Hubbard, the son of Kevin and Missy Hubbard, recently attended the 2008 National Leadership Summit, sponsored by LeadAmerica at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The National Leadership Summit is a college-accredited invitational leadership program for academically talented and promising young leaders from across the United States and internationally. Exceptional high school students with a record of academic achievement and extracurricular or community involvement, were invited to participate in the summer program, where they explored national leadship, how issues are debated, and policy in a hands-on learning environment.

Loren and fellow students stepped into the shoes of those who lead on the national level in an Executive & Legislative Simulation. Faced with complex issues and conflicting points of view, students learned to negotiate, compromise and build consensus and support for their positions. Loren received two college credits for the program.

Loren was previously selected as Chesapeake's Outstanding Student Leader 2007. He also represented Hickory High for the Spring 2008 Virginia Model General Assembly in Richmond and at the VHSL Leadership Summit in Charlottesville. Since 9th grade, he has been on the varsity football and track teams, and was recently selected to serve on the Chesapeake Council on Youth Advisory Board. After his graduation in 2009, he intends to double major in political science and business.
